He graduated with top marks at the Conservatory of Venice in 1985 under the leadership of G. Bacchi, subsequently studied with T. Friedli. Significant is the meeting with A. Pay with which, after receiving his Diploma at the Accademia Internazionale Superiore di Biella, working as an assistant in different courses and master classes by playing alongside him on numerous occasions, both with modern tools with period instruments.

It’s long been considered one of the leading clarinettists from Italy and throughout his career he has collaborated with prestigious institutions such as the Opera Teatro “La Fenice” in Venice, the Teatro “La Scala” in Milan, the Teatro “Carlo Felice” in Genoa, Teatro dell’Opera in Rome under the direction of G. Sinopoli, P. Maag, L. Maazel, G. Gavazzeni, D. Oren, G. Bertini, C. Hogwood, R. De Burgos, C. Melles, C. Thielemann, E. Krivine, P. Herreweghe.

From 1985 he played principal clarinet in the Orchestra di Padova e del Veneto with whom he has performed as a soloist most representative pages of his instrument, as of C.M. von Weber concertos, G. Rossini variations and the concerto K622 by W.A.Mozart and more.

The latter was published by CD Classic the original version for Basset clarinet.

He also recorded for Arcophon/Rivo Alto (divertimentos and notturni of Mozart on period instruments), Amadeus (Gran Partita and Serenades by Mozart on period instruments), Bottega Discantica (Telemann concerto for 2 chalumeaux), Brilliant (Vivaldi).

From 1990 he devoted himself to the study and performance practice with ancient instruments.

With this (chalumeaux, baroque, classical, french and german romantic and tardo romantic clarinets) he worked as principal clarinet with Orchestra della Pietà de ‘ Turchini in Naples, L’arte dell’arco di Padova, la Chambre Philharmonique de Paris, i Barocchisti Lugano (Suisse), Accademia Montis Regalis Mondovi, I Sonatori de la Gioiosa Marca and the Venice Baroque Orchestra, Orchestre des Champs-élysées, La Cetra Orchestra and I pizzicanti Basel.

He is among the few in the world to have recorded as principal clarinet Beethoven’s symphonies on modern (Pilz/Orchestra di Padova e del Veneto) and ancient instruments (Naive/Chambre Philarmonique de Paris).

In the context of disclosure oversaw the translation of the book “Die klarinette” by O. Kroll (Euphonia) and the first edition of the concerto for chalumeau by A. Paganelli (Armelin-Zanibon Padua). His clarinet choir arrangements are published by Kendor (New York) and Euphonia (Brescia). He was a theacher at the conservatories of Vicenza, Trapani and Cosenza.

He currently teaches at the Conservatory of Padua and is regularly invited to give master classes at numerous Conservatories and music schools.
