Francesco Storino began to study cello at the age of 6 and in 1982 he graduated at “G. Verdi” Conservatory in Turin under the guidance of Sergio Patria obtaining the “Gaetano De Napoli” prize for the best cello student; meanwhile he mastered his studies in Composition with Elio Pochettini and in Harmony with Enore Zaffiri.
Afterwards he followed mastercourses with Franco Maggio Ormezowski, Anatoli Nikitin (Principal cello of St. Petersburgs Philharmonic Orchestra), Frans Helmerson and Janos Starker. As a cellist he gained several positions in national and international competitions, among which the Principal cello position at Teatro Verdi in Trieste and the positions in Maggio Musicale Fiorentino, Turin RAI, Teatro Regio in Turin and Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia Orchestra where he works permanently since 1984.
He has been Principal Cello in Orchestra Regionale del Lazio, Roma Classica Orchestra, Santa Cecilia Chamber Orchestra and others. In the years 1998/2010 he dedicated to the Educational Dept. of Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia of which has been Artistic Coordinator since 2005. This activity has been awarded the prestigious Abbiati Prize of Italian musical critic.
His musics have been performed by the Orchestra della Toscana, the Solisti Italiani, the RAI Orchestra, the Solisti of Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia and others. He strongly dedicates to the teaching of the cello and many pupils of his have been awarded with international prizes. He is among the foundators of the JuniOrchestra of the Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia.
